Finally another post!! How long has it been? God. Felt like forever. Its not like I was lazy or anything.. well most of the time. Anyway, updates. Yes. New artwork on the way. Some training stuff. No full new pieces. No time. Busy busy busy bee. But here's something to tie you over. New animation!!! Attempted walk cycle using Toon Boom. The walks a little silly.. terkedek-kedek as the malay saying goes. But it was a good practice. Getting a better hold on the frame timing.

Loosely translated as "Chronic Mental Experimentation".. whatever that means. Just messing around with the Photoshop, trying to do some perspective shots. First piece is just me messing around with the pen tool to draw some cartoonish buildings. The second piece follows the same mental thought process, but i use the building shot and flipped, skewed, stretched and meshed the to create the jelly looking castle thingy. Yes, I know the highlights are wacked. I didn't plan the lightsource beforehand. Typical.

Duration: 1hour for both

Did this for last years Pergh CRDB. I don't remember the exact date, but the battle was on Claire Bennet. Did use a reference, but again I couldnt recall where. Im assuming it was either from DA or Google. Apologize if this is your pose. Found alot of anatomical mistakes while I was coloring it. Mostly the neck and shoulder area.

Yes..tis I! As you can see, I'm still active in the art biz. Not as much, but I try. So here's something new. The piece it self is from an old sketch.. I think its in here somewhere. This piece is a lot of first for me. A) My first time doing an entire piece as a digital painting. B) My first time using textures (blasphemous.. I know right?) and C) My first time experimenting with colors. Coz really.. how many purple people do you know?

Quick blog update. Juuuuuusssttt finished my 3d stuff. Literally.. Like 10 minutes ago. After postponing doing it for the past few weeks. (Yes.. I am a lazy ass) But I can't post it now. I need to submit it in first. I'll probably post the video after 15th March.

Drawing wise, there are NO NEW DRAWINGS!! I is teh suxxors!! Long work hours really take a chunk out of me. It's not really long as it is arduous. (Bitch bitch bitch.. moan moan moan) It'll come to me though. Inspiration has not left me yet. Cross thy fingers.

Next post will probly be the t-shirt-thing-i-wanted-to-post-about-but-never-did. On a side note, i might take up sewing. What???!! Recently found this book about upcycling old raggity t-shirts. Seems simple and interesting enuff. And since all the young'ns are the scenester-diy type, this could probably be a way to make some decent change. So sewing..yes!!

I guess that's it for now. No-crapinus-unum!!!

Embarrassingly this is my first attempt at 3d modeling. This was done for my 3d course assignment. We had to create/model a simple character and animate it for roughly 15 secs. As you can see, the chicken/pigeon/bird thing is simply done using basic shapes (spheres, cones, cylinders, etc). I suppose in the finished scene i'm just just gonna let 'im runaround like a crazed bird thing. But the assignment needed the character to interact with something/have other objects in the scene. So i'll probably get to that later. But this will be only a simple animation though. Admitedly i just do it to the filled requirements. I'll probablyl post more 3d stuff after i mastered 3d studio max. Here's hoping!!

Yeah.. the title has nothing to do with anything I'm writing about.. Just an update for those who follow this blog (hello..hello..hello.. *cue cricket noises*). For the past few months I have been trudging away with work and school stuff. So I hadn't got a chance to update the blog. I do have a few sketches lined up from those few free times that I had. I'll start posting again once exams are over with. Colored pieces are..well.. not existent at the moment. But i WILL get those done!! Plus a few pics on t-shirt designs. And coming soon.. a very..i mean VERY amature animation clip. So stay tuned!

By the by, there's a new post on Mari Mari Mental (my ego blog) and probably a few more post on there in November since I'll be making a quick trip over to our neighboring country Indonesia. Bandung to be specific! Quick question.. do Bandung people (bandungites? bandungese?) refer to mee bandung and sirap bandung as just mee and sirap??

Here's summore artwork from my sketchbook.. Its filling up like wildfire boy!!

First one's a fan art for a character created by mr.bohrtaag from pergh.com. I have no idea what has become of the character, but since i read about her in the pergh forums, i had to a fanart. this is almost finished sketch, hence the watermark.

Second piece is a normal sketchbook piece. Alot of doodles and such. I never really commit to an idea. I just do random stuff. Hopefully i'll see something i like, then i'll re-do it Photoshop.

The last piece was done during the not so recent one academy digital artwork exhibition at mid valley. this was drawn during on of their figure drawing classes. It was done in a public style (open air), so people kept looking over my shoulder when i was drawing. it was a little embarassing since it was my first time with charcoal.

Today's artwork was provided by the letter "P" for "Pergh.Com Character Redesign Battle". The battle was last week, so sorry for the delayed post. The purpose of the CRDB was to take a well known character, and then put your own spin on it, hence redesigning it (well..duh).

The last battle was to redesign Marvel's Dr.Octopus. Clearly I redesigned Doc Ock more than a person would expect. I thought I'd go for a more humouristic battle artwork. Whether I win or not..well..thats another story.

I'd cite Marvel for ownership for Doc Ock, but this resembles nothing like him. But for legal purposes I'll cite em anyway..

This what happens when you watch too much Miami Ink. Top piece is an avatar/logo for my DA site. Second is a NSFW piece that I just randomly did. The girl is quite an old sketch. After some time, I thought it'd be a terrific tattoo lookin' piece.

This piece was done for my girlfriend. By this time I already have gotten a hang of this style, composition wise. The face took awhile. I did a preliminary sketch which then I traced over using tracing paper to make it cleaner and make changes to it. The overall look of the piece sorta resembles a more tattoo looking style. I decided for a more colorful, cheerful piece..rather than the morbid, dark looking style of Rockstar Groupie.

Done for a buddy of mine who is in Australia. This piece is was the first time I did a large sketch piece. Took a couple of hours to do the sketch. Mostly because I didn't have any reference photos. I took some of her Friendster photos, but they weren't detailed enough. So I had to improvise..hence the half skull!! :P I think it fits the piece, since she's into skulls in a big way. The composition didn't take long since most of the things on there are what she likes. (i.e skulls, Arsenal, Converse, etc.)
